Getting Problem In Sending The RCN Mail When You Are On Trip?

Have you ever come across a problem in which you are not able to receive messages on your RCN mail when you are on a ride? If yes, then here are some diagnoses and suggestions for you which will fix your problem.

  1. You take your laptop to friend’s house or at cafĂ© coffee day and try accessing the internet from there on your device either wirelessly or wired. You may have started accessing the internet through your cellular data.
  2. When you open your RCN mail or other email client programs like Windows Mail, Outlook Express, and apple mail to check any new mail in your inbox right. And you receive it successfully.
  3. However, when you try to send a reply to the message, you may get an error message on the screen which prevents you to send a message to the desired address.
  4. When you get back to your home, everything starts working normally and you are able to send and receive messages from your RCN email without any problem.
  5. You also noticed that when you try to send mail from your smartphone or tablet, then you get no problem in sending the mail irrespective of location provided your phone must be connected to the internet.
This problem has been reported by almost all users who have moved their laptops or PC to a different location or you can say they have changed their internet connection. If you are the one who is getting this same problem, then we are going to suggest some points which will help you in fixing this problem. If you are using webmail for accessing the mail, then there are fewer chances of getting this problem.
Here’s the good news for you. You can fix this issue by just changing the email settings of your RCN account. We are going to focus on 3 main settings which are important from problem point of view.

Solution

If you are aware of settings, then we are going to brief the most likely troubleshooting steps for this problem.
  • Try different port number for outgoing email server: If your RCN email supports SSL, then changing the port number to 465 from 25(default) and enable SSL. If no SSL option is available, then you can try 587 in port number after disabling SSL option. Apart from this, if RCN service providers use different port numbers, then you can check it from official page.
  • Try to enable SMTP authentication option.
  • If your email address uses your own name for the domain, then add this to your email address along with a port number for SMTP server. You need to enter port number along with hosting company name.
  • If you are still facing the problem, then we recommend you to use the webmail instead of using the email program on your computer. This is the best workaround for you.
  • As a last resort, if you want to solve this problem by paying normal charges to the service provider, then call at Email support and talk to experts. They will let you know the tips and tricks.
  • If SSL feature is enabled and Antivirus program is also turned on for scanning and outgoing and incoming messages, then you may get the problem in sending the messages. For this problem, we recommend you to either turn off your antivirus for some time and check if the problem is resolved or not or check the guide online for your antivirus program.
